Going Veggie

Going Veggie

If you have been reading any of my previous blogs then you know meat is usually the staple of all my favorite meals. From steaks, pulled pork, hamburgers, to anything else I can get my hands on, meat has been my rock.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have traveled past a few large cow farms that packed together what seemed like thousands of cows into large pens without any room for them to roam and zero fresh grass to eat. Now I know we all have come in contact with the organizations that are pro animal rights and in college I passed a booth at a fair that was offering me a dollar to watch the slaughtering process. I have no ambition to become an activist in that category, however I do think raising cows on top of each other isn't the best way to go.

So please don't start taking a position for or against this blog just yet. If you have made it this far keep reading.

I'm not here to say that the mass production of livestock is either bad nor good because it is necessary to feed the world. However, an individual can become a vegetarian for many reasons. Some do it for their health, others to save the planet, or as a personal life choice.

I want to test out the veggie lifestyle. So, for at least the next month I will refrain from eating meat and see what it's like to eat vegetarian. This is going to change many of my daily meal choices and hopefully not become a pain to my bus mates. Sorry in advance guys!

Going veggie will give me a little bit of a challenge to make new kinds of meals in order to replace my favorites. Hopefully I will be able to blog about a new veggie meal each week and reflect on any difficulties I may be having.

Feel free to send me any recipes that you think will be good to try out!
